So i purchased a new case, liquid cooler and cpu. When rebuilding i accidentally bent some pins on my 1151 socket while wiping dust. Computer was working the day before.

Rebuilt the PC, went to boot and i got no display or POST beep. Lights and all fans are on. Have done the usual diagnosis of removing/reseating components and still no luck. All i have as indication is a debug LED on the mobo which suggests the ram is not functional. But reseating it a couple times fixed that.

The debug LED briefly flashes the cpu light one time (meaning cpu is not detected or faulty) when booting. But the cpu is brand new. So i can only assume it is the motherboard. Appreicate any advice /input thanks!

I forgot to mention that i used a pin and bent all the socket pins back into place. None are missing and they are almost perfect but not quite. Could it still be good or is it too late once pins are bent

How in the world do you bend pins "wiping dust". That's beyond me. Regardless, if the pins are very close to being back to fully straight, then you might be ok. All you can do is set the CPU on the socket, making sure the orientation and alignment are correct, and then release the cpu. If it does not EASILY seat into the socket, with no more than the touch of a butterflies wings on top to drop it down, then you need to either do a better job of straightening the pins or replace the board.

I would not attempt to start the system if there is any resistance to the CPU going back into the socket and sitting fully seated without having to push down with any real force whatsoever.

Lol. cloth got caught in the socket pins. Beyond stupid you dont have to tell me twice. Cpu fits in easily just like a normal one would, no pushing needed. Cpu goes in easy and pins are very close to normal. But system gives no post beep or display. When booting. If the mobo is fine then im not sure what the problem could be

Well, obviously I can't say anything for sure, but when there has been known damage to the motherboard CPU socket, especially if the system was powered on and did not boot, then it's usually probable that the board is toast. If it worked fine before the pins were bent and did not afterwards, then you likely need a new board. Sorry.

Dont be sorry. Thanks for your advice. I really just want confirmation so i know exactly how to fix the problem and get back to gaming. Ill get a new mobo and try another reassembly and see what happens

If you have any small flat and clear plastic whatever, perhaps taking it in applying very gentle pressure over each of the pins that aren't perfectly straight to see if when they are pressed down slightly they make contact with any of the others

You can also try to see about an RMA on your current motherboard. Sometimes they don't even question it, whether the fault was yours or not. We see lots of obviously used boards that get sent out by both Newegg and Amazon, that have clear evidence of previous use or abuse, despite being supposedly "new". Might be at least worth trying, although for some and obviously in this case, it IS at least moderately dishonest since you know you did the damage yourself. Still, warranties are there for a reason AND it seems as though you might have been having SOME kind of difficulties even prior to this issue with the pins.
