Bent threads in RAM slot. Is it gone for good?

Hello everyone,

I was an idiot when trying to install a new RAM card. I tried to force it in and it did a 180 and bent some pins in the process. I tried bending them back but Windows won't start if I put a card in there. Any ideas?

You may be able to line them up properly with a pair of tweezers or something.

Or just use the other slot(s).

I did a cursory attempt to realign them but it didn't work. I'll definitely go at it some more tomorrow. I would be happy with using the remaining slot but I have a quick question. I did some research and my computer can support 8gb. However, crucial is saying that I would have to buy two 4gb cards in order to reach 8gb instead of one 8gb card. They aren't specifically saying that I cannot, just that aren't any compatible cards. Would it make sense that I would not be able to have all of my RAM on one card and have to get two?

What MB? Some of the earlier boards (most of LGA1156 IIRC) could only handle 4GB DIMMs.
