Best 1440p monitor to pair with a GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme?

So recently I have decided to do some upgrading to my PC. I am upgrading my GTX 970 4GB to a GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8 GB...

With this glorious GPU I feel I deserve more than a cheap 1600x900 60HZ monitor I've had for years now, as I really want to experience the visual euphoria from the 1080 to the fullest... though I have no idea why one 1440p monitor is better than the other (assuming they are the same size), or why one costs more than the other, therefore I dunno what monitor would be the best choice.

I'm looking for a great 1440p monitor in the price range of $200-$400 that would pair nicely with the GTX 1080 model stated before... anyone have any suggestions?
