I've made the jump to 4k with this AOC monitor, and it's build and image quality are exceptional for the $279 I spent on it (and Tom's Loves it: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/aoc-u2879vf-28-inch-4k-uhd-freesync-monitor,4575.html)

Though, I am now tasked with needing an adjustable second monitor, one that could be placed in portait mode. I've never had a 144hz monitor, so I figured this would be the time, so I could game in 1080p 144hz, or 4K 60hz and gain the benefits of 4K, portrait desktop work, and high frame gaming out of just two monitors.
I am most loyal to AMD, though I am upgrading my GPU late summer, so either FreeSync or Gsync would be a welcome addition, although G-sync won't likely be found for under $400.

I was considering the AOC G2460PF a lot, as it's price is unbeatable (and AOC surprised me with my new 4k monitor's quality), It has 30-144hz Freesync, and it has a fully adjustable stand, as well as great build quality.

I was also considering this ViewSonic XG2401, although it seems nearly identical to the AOC, so I would be hard pressed to spend $60 more for virtually the same product.

My last option was the Nixeus Vue 24". It seems very similar to the AOC. It's a bit older, but may have better image quality, not quite sure. seems to have slower input lag.

Would love some more suggestions and advice.
Everyone just seems to default to the Asus VG248QE, but I really think there are much newer options out there now. Surprisingly couldn't find any great models with HDMI2.0 out there yet, that would be something I am looking for as well

Acer GN246HL (under $200) and Asus VG248QE (around $250) are up there @ 1920x1080@144 1ms... If you really want G-Sync, the Acer XB241H can be found for just under $400.
