I need help finding the best bang for buck gpu for my hp z230 workstation. It has a 400w psu which gives 75w from the pci-e slot and 75w from a 6 pin connector psu auxiliary connector. I appreciate any info because I'm completely new to this stuff. Thanks.

Anyone? I won't be near my comp for a week so I can't measure and would like to purchase today so it gets there by the time I get back to it. If a typical single slot gpu is .7 inches then I don't think it can fit as it appears only 2 inches could work

What about this 1660 black: https://www.evga.com/Products/product.aspx?pn=06G-P4-1161-KR - can I get a 6 to 8 pin adapter and will it fit? Here's a pic of the inside of my comp: View: https://imgur.com/a/Y110FLu#dwewxDj

No. Adapters are very rarely recommended because they're used to push junky PSUs and are also a common source of fires. Yours is not one of the exceptions. The 1650 was specifically recommended for this purpose.

You really need to measure the space you have. It's very hard to see what's in there from the angle and some kind of bracket and I'm not going to even venture a guess as to what the measurements are.
