Hey guys, building a new pc and I’m looking for the best 2 TB HDD (7200 rpm).

This is probably the oddest pc related question I’ve asked on the forums but im really looking to build a budget masterpiece. Price range varies from $80-$120 AUD ($60-$90 USD).

Thanks for the help.

you can look at pcpartpicker, however I've found the average customer reviews very difficult to qualify. Heck, I've followed links and found the PCpartpicker, Newegg, Amazon all had different ratings (sometimes 2/5 vs 4.5/5 ?? WTF?)

So...

Actually, I can only found a couple drives anyway (two from Seagate, one from Toshiba) so...

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/CbL7YJ/seagate-barracuda-2tb-35-7200rpm-internal-hard-drive-st2000dm006

Not sure why the model is "..M006" and the other "..M001" but I assume it's had some sort of hardware or firmware update.

Well, he specified 7200RPM, and it's a PC (I suspect for games) so really no reason to talk about NAS or the WD GREEN models.

Personally I like using the Seagate Constellation drives, used Cheetahs before I switched over to SATA.

They are rock solid and fast.

And you can get them at reasonable prices now.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Storage: Seagate - Constellation ES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.99 @ Newegg Marketplace)
Total: $54.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Just had to replace one that had 60,000 uptime hours on it.

Have another with almost 40,000 hours on it.

And I have one new one I just got, the 2 TB I linked to.
