Hey all, I am building a new computer for gaming. Current specs are
evga geforce gtx 1070
Ryzen 5 2600 (I’ll be upgrading cpu to R7 2700x within the next 4-6 months though)

I am relatively new to the monitor market but I have been doing basic research in order to try and gauge what kind of monitor to go with. I do play some intensive games and plan on getting the new Doom game when that comes out, just as an example of what will be necessary.

I’m looking for 24 or 27 inch monitor with 144 hz, ideally with G-sync or Freesync (I hear that free sync is possible to use with nvidia cards, but i’m still new to monitor features), and ideally around $300-400 usd. There are a couple on sale st newegg right now that i’m considering buying, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it right now or if i should wait and try to get a monitor that might be bigger.

Alienware AW2518HF 24.5" FreeSync Gaming http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=24-260-316

and

MSI Optix MAG241C Black 23.6" Curved http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=24-475-017

Are both on sale. Just need some insight if getting one of those would be a good idea, and which one, or not and maybe look for something else. Any help would be immensely appreciated, thank you!

These are some of the best monitors available on the market for 1080p 144hz 1ms gaming. I have owned all 3 listed in the thread. If you have the money, buy the Asus.

The alienware monitor you linked is too expensive. You could get a good 144hz 1440p monitor for that price. The other monitor you linked is a curved screen which I have never been a fan of, and wouldn't recommend.

This is a personal choice, but as an FPS player, I would go with a 24" flat panel.

27" is what I'm playing on now, and it just seems too big, I can't see the edges and it's like I've got tunnel vision on the center of my screen.

I've started playing in 4:3 aspect ratio with black boxes on the side b/c it's just too much screen to look at for me.
