Toms just posted a new Updated Video Card article today or yesterday. I would check that out.

However, it's kinda silly to spend that much on a GPU before the 8600s come out next month. Unless of course you can't wait a month for some reason like your current card just went poof.

Getting the best Geforce for $250 is a mistake, because it's the 7950 GT and the Radeon X1950 XT will eat it alive for $250.

The X1950 XT owns the $250 price point right now.

Quoted for emphasis and truth.

Also, the 8800GTS 320MB is coming out soon. Likely very soon.

It has an MSRP of $299 and with the 8800GTS 640MB around the corner at $350 after rebates, you should expect at least $30 rebates on Newegg with the 8800GTS 320MB, making it an ultra steal.

Getting the best GeForce for $250 is stupid because ATI dominates that market. It's even more stupid because the 8800GTS 320MB around the corner could push prices even further down, or even become a better option for you as it will dominate the current cards on the market anyway.

Although, I would rather have an ATI X1950XTX 512 than an 8800GTS 320MB, one can only dream that card would get below $250.

I'm in the same boat. I am selling my current computer this month, so I need a replacement by the end of this month. If I knew for a fact the 320mb GTS would be out by the end of this month, I would wait till the last minute to make the purchase, however I highly doubt it is going to be out by the end of this month.

Someone please tell me otherwise :)
