I'm looking for a good 2560x1440 monitor to game with. Max budget of 400 bucks, but I'd like to spend as little as possible. If there's some monitors even for 500 bucks you can list those even though I probably wouldn't get it, but please list some under $400 as well. Thanks.

JackNaylorPE is right, if you can afford the Predator, get it. If you can't, get the Asus PB278Q. If you can't get the Asus get the Acer K272HULbmiidp. I don't know how good your build is, but if you're gaming at 1440p and you want ultra settings with at least 60fps consistently, you'll need a something like a gtx 980. If you want 144fps, you'll need to sli those 980s. I'm prety sure that even if you had either of those setups though, reaching 144fps in a lot of games at 1440p would be difficult. If you're okay with just 60fps and you want accurate colors, get the Asus PB278Q. I you want a buttery smooth gaming experience and you have the build to make it happen, get the Predator. But only get these things if they're within budget.

I bought an Asus PB278Q a few days ago, and it's beautiful, but it's $430. If you can't go over $400 at all, I guess you should get the Acer K272HULbmiidp, which is $350. Just use pcpartpicker.com if you want the best deals on the exact product you want, that's where I found these two monitors.

The best 1440p monitors are 144Hz cost quite a bit more than $400

Acer Predator XB270HU ($800) - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/acer_xb270hu.htm

Acer Predator XG270HU ($500) - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/acer_xg270hu.htm

Asus Swift ($780) - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/asus_rog_swift_pg278q.htm

Those are all 144 hz monitors. I don't see investing $400 in a 60Hz monitor to save $100

But at $400 and less ya have the Qnix 2710 ($400)

And the Asus PB278Q ($450)

Yeah, I was looking at both. What are the advantages of the ASUS over the Acer? I see it has a little bit better response time, but do you know how well you can overclock the refresh rate on each? Like which is better at overclocking? Also do you play any games on yours, and are images stretched out, etc.?

From what I can tell most reviews seem to say that the Asus one has better color reproduction, and has less ghosting which is very important in gaming. If you want to read up on their differences this thread summarizes the points very well, but just in general build quality, the asus one is better, plus it has VESA mounts and the panel is only semi-glossy I'm pretty sure, so there won't be as much of a reflection in the panel as the Acer one. At least that's what it looks like when I look at my moniotr, I'm having trouble finding out if it's matte or semi-glossy, but I don't think it's glossy.

What about overclocking the ASUS and the Acer?

From what I've heard there are plenty of people that oc their monitors, but if you want to do that, keep in mind that it an be very dangerous. The highest I think you'd be able to get either monitor is to 90Hz, but it's likely that you'd only be able to oc them to about 75Hz while keeping things safe and stable. But it depends on the monitor, and you never know, you could get some crazy capabilities out of your monitor. But you could get a significant increase in maximum refresh rate. tweaktown.com wrote an article about getting their Asus PB278q to 85Hz, which is great considering the price is a little over $400.

Which Acer ?

Acer Predator XG270HU >> Asus PB278Q >>> Acer K272HULbmiidp

The $500 predator competes well with the $750 Swift. Did you read the reviews ? It's 144 hz and FreeSync equipped.

I do not recommend overclocking the monitor and there is no need w/ the predator.... it's alreday 144 Hz

Since I only have a 970, should I go with the ASUS monitor because it's 60hz and my graphics card probably couldn't drive GTA V on very high on a 144hz monitor? Like the 60hz monitor because I'd most likely be able to get 60 frames/second on 2560p with a 970 for GTA V very high?
