Hey guys,
I'm looking to build my first gaming rig, and I need a little help in selecting a motherboard. Here's my (eventual) setup:
CPU: Intel Core i7 920
GPU: 4x ATI Radeon HD 5870 (Quad CrossfireX)
Memory: 3x 2GB DDR3-1333
Storage: 3.5" 32GB SSD (for Win7 x64, maybe Ubuntu x64 too)
3.5" 1TB HDD (for apps/files/etc.) (most likely a Seagate Barracuda)
Case: ATX full tower (haven't looked into this much, but I've heard a mid tower will be too small for 4 GPUs)
The best board I've found so far is the ASRock X58 Deluxe. It has extra spacing between PCIe 2.0 x16 slots to accommodate for double-width GPUs, such as the 5870, which is a must. However, I've done only minimal research on the topic due to my current heavy workload.
If the ASRock is a good fit, let me know, or if you guys have any other suggestions, they're all greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
