I'm looking for a 49" curved monitor (more curved the better... closer to 1000R) that is good in dark rooms for gaming. Just about every curved monitor I find, advertises how "bright" it is. I loved my old Dell 2405FPW as it was dark with fast refresh times and great color reproduction. I bought a newer 27" monitor, albeit, not gaming focused.. but on it's lowest backlight/brightness settings, it's nearly twice as bright as my Dell, which can cause eye strain for when viewed in a dark room for extended periods of time.
I'd prefer higher resolution, but am willing to go 3440x1440p, but would prefer 5120 x 1440. I want a good contrast ratio. I don't care about 240 hz. I personally don't really notice much of a difference between 120, 144, and 240 hz, so 120hz is just fine for me. Currently running a VR rig, so the only time graphics power becomes an issue is when I want to increase frame rate on my VR headset, and I can always drop the resolution on the monitor to 1080P to give a boost to the VR until I'm ready to go back to normal PC use.
I could even be convinced to spend the extra money on a nice OLED Gaming monitor if one fit the bill. Especially if it's available on Amazon since I have a ton of Amazon rewards points I could apply towards it's purchase 😉 Suggestions anyone?
