You aren't going to get a great set of cans for gaming as headphones with good a soundstage don't really start until the $100 mark. Just ignore all the "gaming" headphones because they are complete trash marketed at gamers who don't know anything about audio.
The best I can recommend at your price point is the audio technica ATH-M30x. You may be able to find the M50, a better model, on sale on ebay used (which there are many as the M50 is very popular). The great thing about headphones is they don't get worse over time (unless they are abused) and you don't have to upgrade constantly.
