Best 6th Gen CPU for GTX 1060

Hello!
So i just wanted to get some opinions on a build i am working on for my brother. I will be using a:
MSI Gaming B150 M3 LGA 1151 Mobo
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Cooler
8GB corsair Vengance RAM
I plan on purchasing a gtx 1060 6GB/3GB with this build. And i wanted to ask if i use a Pentium G4560 3.5Ghz will bottleneck the GPU for online gaming? Looking for the best CPU for the the best price.

I would recommend a I5-6600K if you had a motherboard that accommodates overclocking. But with the B150 M3 a locked processor would be a better value normally. But given the availability and prices that may be difficult. An I5-6400 or I5-6500 are possibilities. But for a few dollars more ($4 ) get the I5-6600K.

I don't think so.

I ran an i7-920 with a 1060, and the i7-920 is of similar speed to the G4560, and the 1060 was the bottleneck.....but not much of a bottleneck.

I think that CPU and GPU are a good match.

You can always just give it shot and see how it games basically watch the CPU load while gaming and see if it 90%+ if so then you probably a good idea to upgrade the cpu.

The increased core count of 8th gen (and Ryzen) really makes CPU upgrades on 6th/7th gen platforms questionable.

I.e. the 6600k doesn't really make sense. Without overclocking, you're limited to 3.6 GHz all core turbo. For less than the price of a 6600k, you could get an i3 8100 and 300 series mobo that will also get you a 3.6 GHz quad core. And if it makes sense to replace mobo as well, that opens up Ryzen too

I don't have a problem with any of that, but the OP asked specifically about sixth generation Intel processors. That is why I framed my answer that way.

I suggested the I5-6600k because it was essentially the same price as as the locked I5 6500. Which I would say is the best value/performance for a locked sixth generation Intel processor.

Fair enough, but I think we should point out to the OP that by limiting themselves to 6th gen CPUs they limit their options and may end up spending more than they have to.

Some things I should have asked the OP first though:
What games in particular do you have in mind?
What monitor resolution/refresh rate will this PC be used with?

I actually have a 6600k on my current rig. Been using it since 2015 and love it. I wanted to get this for my brothers build but since it is his first gaming PC. I though it would be better to look for something a bit lower cost with his budget.

I don't think so.

True i been doing more research and people have good experiences with this combo so i might just get this combo and recommend him later on to upgrade the mobo to get a new gen cpu
