I was looking at the Lite On 16/10/40 for 71 at Newegg, but its gone from there I guess they don't carry it anymore.

They have an Aopen and Asus in the same price range. Any comments/suggestions? I dont really need a fast burner since I dont plan on burning a lot of CDs. In fact I "was" just gonna get a 52x reader but you guys talked me out of it ;)

What I do want is something that READS fast, I just dont care too much about write speed.

thanks, I just checked it out. Have you ever bought from these guys? Are they reputable?

Resellerratings has good ratings for them, but only on 5 votes so its somewhat limited.

Haven't confirmed this yet but saw it on www.dslreports.com and thought of you

"cendyne 12x8x32 for 34.99
Outpost.com is selling this CDRW for 49.99 plus a 15.00 MIR (which we all love to hate). It's not the fastest or the best on the market, but if you're looking for a bargain burner, this might be the way to go"

Dude, no way! That's so stoked! Too bad I already got the 24x Lite-On. I'm kinda impatient...

I'll be sure to keep that in mind when building someone a computer. Thanks for that heads up.

yeah ... if you only rely on the reviews you see there .. which I'm sure you don't . I certainly don't in fact they are the last ones I look at if I look at all .. however the point is well taken as the great uninformed public may be led astray by them.. on the other hand I don't see where a lot of the same folks that are gullible and are the consumers of p-iv's with sdram and tnt cards etc will be doing a lot of component shopping either .. caveat emptor was never more true ...btw I didn't read the "agreement before posting there .. did you lol

Yeah, I always look at reviews from reputable hardware sites before making a purchase. And, dude...how am I supposed to read that long agreement!?! You'd think that doing something as making a comment about a product is simple enough to just make and move on; man was I wrong.

Aha! I knew the product reviews there were a little "too" good!! Thats why we have review sites and this forum. Thanks for the info...

PS great news on the 24x. Who needs the 16 anymore!

Hey, according to Overclockers.com, they added it to their policy now, since so many people emailed them. So, don't hold a grudge on them. They're all good.

dont worry I won't. I haven't even ordered from them yet, but I can't wait to! I have heard so many good things about them that I'm looking forward to it. Building a new pc from scratch and I'm getting everything from them except the crucial memory, which will be coming from crucial.com where its a bit cheaper (and free shipping) :)

There are a lot of good things about them. They're all so true! Quick shipping, fast service, fast email replies...and any more that I can't think of. I wish I heard of them when I bought my parts for my first home-built computer.

I hope you have fun!
