Best AGP replacement/upgrade

What's the best replacement/upgrade for my AGP graohics card, without upgrading my Neo 430 power supply? What about a PCI-E? (I have an Asrock mb capable of handling either AGP or PCI-E)

The motherboard is presumably a 775Dual-VSTA in which case the PCI-E port is limited to x4 link width which is about 1GB/s which is the same as the AGP X8 bus.

So you may aswell go for a PCI-E card so that you can use it when you finally decide to upgrade your motherboard.

Thanks for the info.

The mb is a 939Dual-SATA2 with one PCIE x 16 and one PCIE x 1, as well as one AGP slot at 1.5 v, 8x/4x .
I'm running an AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core 4800+.
It's not a bad system, but the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT has started giving me blue screens lately.

What would be the best graphics card to go to without exceeding the limits of the Neo430 power supply? I'm really concerned and confused about all the different requirements I see for modern cards.

(I'll be building up a whole new system next year, but I want to keep this one running for other purposes.)

Well, blue screens may not be caused by your graphics card alone. It could be insufficient power or components overheating. I'd recommend that you first change the power supply. It's not a good brand and you're only betting against the odds with it. Sure it is rated at 430 but is it peak or continuous? Also, keep in mind as as power supplies age, they become less efficient, so do the capacitors within it. First, get a new power supply, Corsair VX400 recommended. See if that solves your problems.

Thanks for the suggestion. If I get a new power supply, tho', I guess it would be a lot more powerful than the Neo430 and I might as well accommodate a more powerful graphics card, as well..
The blue screen says things like check for graphics driver updates, and nothing about power, so iIassumed it was the card dying.

Looks like some folks had trouble with the Radeons, which reflects my experience several cards ago.

Thanks for your suggestion. The question is: which one would be compatible with my Neo430 power supply? Obviously not one of the newest cards with their high power and multiple connector requirements.
