Hello! Wanting to upgrade my system to boost performance and lower sound - and I’m wondering what the best placements for AIOs and fans are. Currently, my system is cooler by 5 fans, and the cpu is cooled with AMD’s stock fan; below are my fan placements and specs.

1 x 120mm fan at the rear
2 x 120mm fan at the top
2 x 140mm fan at the front

ASUS prime x470
RX 580 8gb
Ryzen 5 2600
16gb ddr4 vengeance pro @ 3600
RM 1000x PSU
Aerocool 800 case

My display is the viewsonic XG2401, so the system runs 144hz at 1080, meaning it’s not uncommon for it to get a little hot.

I am not quite prepared to build a custom loop yet, so I was wondering where the best fan/ aio placements are. I can mount a 240 radiator on the top or front, or a 280 at the front. I can also mount a 140 at the front, or a 120 on the rear or top. I intend to also use the NZXT kraken g12 to cool my GPU as well as my CPU.

So, I was thinking the best placement for aios and a fan combo would be a 140 aio and a 140 fan at the front, a 240 aio on the top, and a 120 fan at the rear.

However, because a 280 aio can be mounted at the front, would the performance be better if I used a 120 aio on the top/ rear, along with the two exhaust fans already? As the aio would allow for some airflow, and I’d still have two fans to help.

Any help is much appreciated!

AIO should be 240/280mm and mounted either top or front. blowing cold air in
Noctua make the best fans, but they are quite expensive but very quiet.
You may not get good enough cooling with a 120.

I think I wasn’t clear enough in my thread, my apologies! I intend to use the kraken G12 kit with an aio to cool my gpu (either a 120 or 140), and cool my cpu with another aio (either 240 or 280). My question is, what would be the best configuration for this, given that I already have two fans to put with the aios?
