I am looking for a good aio for my q6600 on lga 775 socket. Yes I already have my heart set on a liquid cooler, but if I had to go air I would get a be quiet dark rock pro 3.

Solution
It's a small improvement in a lot of metrics but it's only a 1-generation increase. IPC, clockspeed, overclocking ability are up, power consumption is down, and it has a few more instructions. However, be aware that it still doesn't meet the minimum requirements for some games.

I would not spend more on a cooler. Newer Intel CPUs draw far less power, and a Hyper212 is plenty even for something like an i7 6700K, which is something like 3-5x faster.
Why?

I see that CPU for $2.75 on eBay. If you can extract another 100mhz out of it over an inexpensive air cooler, you're getting what, an extra 15 cents worth of performance? Seems like a horrible waste of money.

That's not even factoring in that I consider AiO coolers a waste of money and only recommend them for very niche situations, such as when you don't have the clearance for a proper air cooler. AiO coolers perform worse, make more noise and are less reliable than air coolers for the same price because ultimately what matters in a cooler is surface area, and at the same price an AiO must include a pump, tubing, clamps and coolant.

I am buying a new case on black friday (enthoo pro m acrylic) and a new cooler(current is hyper 212 evo). The be quiet! cooler fits in that case, but I would not be taking full advantage of what that case can do. It has a lot of support for water cooling. If you even looked at the performance of the processor, then you would know how good of a performer it is, especially for the price. But it runs HOT. And I mean like idles in mid 50s. Which would be okay, if my fans didn't ramp up to 100%. I just want some suggestions for good AIO liquid coolers for my chipset. Because I am having trouble finding some, I have only found this: https://www.amazon.com/SilverStone-Technology-Liquid-Adjustable-TD02-LITE/dp/B011VCVX42/ref=s9_simh_gw_g147_i2_r?_encoding=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=Y84XCY74TH8KQF1YJ23H&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=6aad23bd-3035-4a40-b691-0eefb1a18396&pf_rd_i=desktop And also corsair AIOs fit but require a $12 adapter from their website.

I know well how hot they run, I bought one when it was new in 2007. What I'm saying is that it's so old, I think you're putting good money after bad. For the price of an AiO you could have an entirely new, cooler running and much faster CPU.

What cpu do you suggest for lga 775?

Depends on your motherboard, every board has a different set of supported CPUs. Ideally you'd be able to use a Q9550, which is faster and draws a lot less power. If not, I'd suggest instead that you put that money toward a platform upgrade, because 775 is getting so old at this point that the best CPU for that socket doesn't meet the minimum requirements for some games and programs.

I can see the q9550 on ebay and its very inexpensive, I believe that it is supported by my motherboard (Intel Extreme series DX38BT).Which supports Core 2 extreme processors in addition to Core 2 quads, but idk how they perform against the q9550. Do you think I will see a notable difference in performance and temps, and should I still purchase a new cooler if i upgrade my cpu? My gpu is a gtx 760 Windforce by the way.

Thanks! I'll probably pick up the q9550 and keep the evo unless I see a really good deal on another cooler.
