Have a Coolermaster Praetorian and EVGA 680i SLI mobo, looking for the best air cooler I can find for my hot running QX6700. Anyone out there with this case (and even better if you have same mobo too), please let me know what will fit. I know some of the latest air coolers like the Ultra 120 wont fit, so wondering what will.
Thanks

Well if you are talking about the redesigned one it has the stupid cone on the side blowhole which stops the big coolers from fitting. I had the same problem with the redesigned mystique. Except of a few mm in width, the Mystique has a clamshell door, I believe they are the same size case. I had to remove the side panel plastic cone (4 screws ) to fit a Thermaltake Typhoon in. Plenty of room after the cone was removed which seems to be there for the stock Intel and AMD HSF coolers. The Ultra 120 is no bigger than the Typhoon which is also a 120mm monster so I am sure the Ultra would fit also.

Azimuth, thanks for the reply, good to know that the typhoon will fit, i always figured the plastic cone would have to go for just about any non stock heatsink.

The typhoon though is about 128mm high with fan attached according to thermaltake website, the ultra 120 is about 160.5mm high, and I have read elsewhere that it doesnt fit.

How is the typhoon for cooling? Wondering how it compares for example to the Zalman 9700 and whether the 9700 would fit this case/mobo combo.

Wow I thought it was shorter than that. I like the typhoon a lot because it is also a downdraft fan and sweeps across the motherboard. I looked at the Zalman but changed my mind at the last minute because of the fan direction. The typhoon is also very quiet in fact the video card is the loudest thing in the system, a XFX 6800 soon to be replaced with one of the 8800 series. Considering that the Mystique has two 120 fans and the power supply has two 80mm fans that is saying a lot. The CPU is a C2D 6400 overclocked about 10 percent. TAT seems happy with it and as soon as you stop stressing it the temps drop almost instantly.

Right now the room is 78F, a Visual studio progam build is running, I have a music feed from the net, Core 0 is 46c Core 1 is 42c according to TAT. Speed Fan shows 42 and 40c . Case temp 36C. Math is bad right now but I think everything is less than 110F or around 30 degree F above room ambient which is pretty decent. There are also two Seagate drives in the system producing a little more heat.
