Hi, I've been wondering what AMD processor is best for my 1080Ti. I've been thinking of buying the Ryzen 7 3700X, but i play on 1080p/60Hz and i've read that a small bottleneck will be present. I really want to "futureproof" this buy so i wont have to upgrade often. If the bottleneck is small then is it worth to buy the Ryzen 7 3700X?

The bottleneck if there is any is your monitor. At 60Hz there is little point going for more than 60fps. A 1080Ti is good for 1080p 144Hz or 1440p 144Hz.

You are worrying too much about ‘bottleneck’, a common mistake. Even the best systems can bottleneck in certain circumstances and games. A Ryzen 3600 to 3700X would be excellent choices. The 3700x is only slightly faster in current games but is great for multitasking while gaming or if you want to get into streaming.

Im currently using a 3700X with 2080 Super at 1440p 144Hz and it’s a brilliant combination.

You could even buy an $85 Ryzen 5 1600af and be able to max out a 1080p 60hz in many cases. Even if the framerate is limited by your CPU, you still would have a good experience and should be able to max out your monitor.

If you are looking for a good CPU to match the 1080ti if you do upgrade your monitor, a Ryzen 5 3600 or Ryzen 7 3700x would be nice.

The current mainstream stuff is the 3600, it can do everything competently. Got a spare buck?need extra safety for the years just cuz of more cores? 3700X, again just for the extra cores cause the performance increase almost cant be noticed, but hey more cores, seems like thats the future for now.

I personally run the 3600X with my 1080Ti and it works like a charm. You could also run a 3600(non X) with the system and you shouldn't find any bottlenecks.
