hey i have been with avast for a few years now (the free version) and was wondering what the best one is if i should upgrade to paid or leave it as is. Also i dont have any malware bites because I think you have to pay for that too after like 20 days. I have windows firewall and avast right now, is this enough or should I upgrade? thanks

UPDATE** I am a hardcore gamer and any antivirus that WONT interfere with my games is a must please.

Solution
Bitdefender PAID is the best!

Malwarebytes has a FREE version , but for the FREE version it's just an on demand scanner.

Don't Activate the TRIAL and you can use the FREE version to scan an check your system.

So make an account, and buy the Antivirus one? Or the Total Security?

Which bitdefender should I download please? I see one for Windows 8 and 8.1 (I have windows 8.1)
I see one for Total Security, and one for Antivirus...

OK so here's the run down on it.

AV = Anti Virus.

Don't worry about the Bit Defender version that specifically states Windows 8.1, its a bit out dated.
There are 3 different versions of Bit Defender to look at:
Antivirus Plus 2016
In short, AntiVirus PLus 2016 is just AntiVirus. It'll protect you from worms, virus, trojans, etc. It also offers a password manager. I can't confirm if it has anti malware since it isnt listed on their site but is listed on other review sites.

Internet Security 2016
Everything Antivirus Plus is, plus extras like a firewall, parental controls and anti spam. More protection, but you will need to train the firewall over time.

Total Security 2016
Everything that Internet Security 2016 is, plus Anti Theft protection, a system optimizer and encryption.

Of the 3, I'd go with either the Anti Virus or the Total Security. You may not end up using the extra features over whats offered with Internet Security, but its 2 bucks more and it may be useful.

Just download and install the software. It used to be that they gave you an option about using the free 2 week trial, now it just loads. After 2 weeks if you do nothing it reverts itself to the free version and becomes an on access scanner only.

ok thanks yea i am going to get it soon, one question what do you mean train your firewall?

It'll prompt you to allow various programs to run. So like if you play online games, the first time you fire up Steam or Blizzard, or what not, it'll prompt you to allow the program to reach outside of your computer or accept incoming requests for it. Once you set it up, its fine but that first week is a lot of "Yes computer, let the damn thing work". It can be frustrating and sometimes people will just turn it off or accept everything, don't fall in to that trap. Once you set it up to work how you want, it makes things a lot more secure.
