Best Antivirus for Mac

I am looking for an antivirus software that actually defends a mac with a good turnout rate. I was reading Avira was a good antivirus for macs but i want to make sure that im actually protecting my computer

Realistically speaking, the best AV for OS X depends on which version of OS X you're running. I'd say Avira is probably the best AV for OS X 10.9.x and 10.10.x, though it isn't the best for older versions of OS X, like, 10.7.x and 10.8.x.
