Just looking into what to disable (already turned off Asus multicore enhancement). Not looking to overclock. I just want a nice, cool, long lasting pc.
I turned off multicore enhancement and disabled my XMP memory profile, which fortuitously left my memory set to what it was supposed to be, anyway 9-9-9-24
Thank you for your response btw. You've been so helpful throughout my nerve-wracking build lol
Don't get me wrong; it went smooth. It's just so many things can go bonkers at any given time!
Thanks! People probably wonder why I went with an i7 4790k and a Maximus VII Hero if I didn't want to overclock, but I wanted the improved thermal interface, hyperthreading performance, and 4.0 ghz performance of the Devil's Canyon along with all the wonderful ATX space, UEFI, overclocker-oriented reliability, and onboard Supreme FX (I've never been an audiophile, and I've never bought a sound card; but I do really appreciate nice audio off the board) of the ASUS MOBO.
Well, down the road if you evr decide to play with OCing you are ready to go It's like having a free CPU upgrade just waiting for you
I'm foreseeing that to be quite a while with the games that I play... I think I hear my computer giggle when it's chewing through my flight simulators. I never knew what a choke point my old CPU was. Did I mention I upgraded from 8 gb RAM and a phenom II 1100t processor? lol It's like I'm seeing colors I never seen before!
I prefer your experience of heading upward and onward, I get calls all the time and head out to see rigs that are older and slower, and sit down and feel like "OK I'll go have a smoke while I wait for FireFox to open, it's particularly frustrating when trying to teach people how to run a software package, or waiting around foorreeevvveeeeeerrrr for a malware or virus check to run 😉
