Hello. I want to create a dedicated boot drive.

What type of storage drive is the best/fastest for OS startup? A standard SSD, NVMe, M.2, or a PCIe based SSD? Any recommendations?

Thanks!

The Samsung 970 EVO Plus (and a precious few others such as the ADATA mentioned above, and perhaps the very new HP-EX950) that are in that same arena, +/- a 100 MB/sec read or write) is likely still the standard 'go to' these days...as it's 3400+ MB/sec sequential reads are slightly more than 6x faster than a fast SATA SSD's typical 550 MB/sec reads, the debate ends quite quickly. Prices on NVME drives are also quite reasonable these days...250 GB models are almost free, and, even the common 500 GB models now cost less than half of what they did two years ago....
