im planning to build a new pc and im want it be capable of editing 1080p video just for school projects so no need for fancy graphics cards
i also want it to capable playing games at 1080p near 60fps but im not gonna play high end games like assassin’s creed or doom.
in short i want a modest video editing pc that can also play esports games or maybe some fps games at high framerates.
i wont be making a lot of videos and i won’t be making youtube videos

but i already have a i5 6400 cpu. should upgrade it instead with a new components or its better build a new one?

my current specs

i5 6400
potato iGPU
Asus H110M-K
Crappy OEM PSU (i will definitely upgrade this one if i choose to upgrade along with the new components)
8GB Kingston ValueRAM @ 2133 MHz (this one too)
WD Blue 500GB (will add SSD soon)
Cheap PC case but i gets the job done

i will be editing with DaVinci Resolve or HitFilm Express

It might well be worth a upgrade to a Ryzen 3600 which is fairly cost effective 6 core 12 thread CPU and great for productivity and will be a fairly big boost. I think motherboard, CPU, GPU and RAM should come in at around $600 to $650. This would include the GTX 1660 Super which is 1660Ti level of performance and will provide great 1080p Gaming...though you could drop down further to a RX 590...
