Best Budget CPU for use with MSI Radeon RX 470 8gb video card?

I have an AMD fx-6300 with my current build, but I feel my new graphics card is severely bottlenecking my cpu (or the other way around). I need to find a new CPU and MOBO for under $250 if possible, and i might also need RAM (as i do respectively have 16gb of ddr3). I was thinking to go intel, but if i can get a better amd build than i already have ill go that direction. Thanks for the help!!

P.S- My current Mobo and CPU may be going to my father, as his system is very old (2004-05) and he uses his pc everyday to correct contracts and cases for his career (lawyer/attorney)

AMD hasn't released their new CPUs yet, and there aren't any real better AMD CPUs currently out that you can buy. If you wait maybe 2-3 weeks you'll see what AMD's latest offering is after they hit the market and may have a slightly more compelling choice than what Intel has - maybe. Otherwise, Intel's current i5 7500 + a B250 chipset motherboard should be about $250 and is an excellent choice.

Whichever way you go, you'll need DDR4. Neither AMD's soon-to-be-released CPUs or Intel's current ones support regular DDR3.

A good option would be the i3-6100 (around $120) and a LGA 1151 motherboard would be MSI H110M Gaming Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Motherboard (on Newegg for $60 here: https://goo.gl/1iBq4C) and a little Patriot Viper 4 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2800 here on Newegg for another $100 (https://goo.gl/XcjfoU). This is if you're really determined to upgrade now.

I must note: although in some games there is a bottleneck, there really isn't a considerable bottleneck to be worried about. As Ecky recommended, you could hold out to see what the new CPUs offer.

^ The Pentium G4560 has basically replaced the i3 6100, and is only about $60-65 at most retailers. My opinion, either get the Pentium or move up to an i5, the i3's are nearly pointless now.

A non OC'd i5 is NOT enough for a RX480/470. My 6600 struggles hard in BF1, Arma, Star Citizen, and GoW4.

I would recommend an i5-6400 with a Z series motherboard to BLCK overclock.

It's not so much that a stock i5 is not enough for a 47/480, but rather, that it's not enough for the games you play. If you're dropping below 60fps, it would be the same with GTX 1080 SLI as with a single GTX 750 Ti or RX 460, with graphical settings appropriate for each card.

Ive tried this, and it works well! I accually built this machine for a friend, and it works great for him, and i currently run an amd ryzen 5 1700 cpu with 16gb gskill ram. Thanks for all your help!
