Best budget laptop of 2018? (AU)

Hey guys, so i'm after a nice budget laptop for my girlfriend as a graduation gift. I was hoping somewhere around the $500 mark. I used to be right into PC's and tech a few years ago but have since lost interest due to work and cars. So i was wondering what would be the best option for around $500 (less is better, can also stretch a bit more). She'll just need it for uni assignments, power point etc.
