I'm looking to get a new monitor for gaming . I just bought a GTX 970 and would like to move up from 1080p and 60hz. I'm not particularly picky about size, although I wouldn't want anything less than 23" or 24" .
Thanks !

You want a higher resolution than 1080p? I wouldn't really recommend it with a GTX 970. The 970 is really the perfect 1080p card. If you go with a higher resolution ( 1440p is the next step ) performance will suffer greatly depending on the game.

Like anort3 said, it's basically pointless to get any other monitor than a 1080p one. Yes, the GTX970 will play some games on 2K reso, but your performance will suffer, and suffer severely. Believe me, it's not really necessary at this point, save yourself some money to buy something nice, and get a little cheaper 1080p monitor!
What if the purpose for this monitor isn't gaming? Would you still recommend a 1080p monitor? Could the GTX 970 run CAD applications in 4k? or Adobe applications in 4k? Even if it is still attached to a 1080p monitor at the same time?
