lol, I thought you were asking that until I realized that it was your sig....

DFI i815EP, Intel Pentium III (Tualatin) 1.26GHz, ATI Radeon 9100, SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum, Samsung 512MB SDRAM, Western Digital 80GB 7200RPG 8MB Cache

Wow I had the reply finished and then the power went out. That was over 3 hours ago! Oh well, at least it's back on.

Hardware I could not agree with you more. I want to build my own brand new computer from scratch so bad, but because of a major setback monetarily, I'm pushing it back to probably mid next year. So for now this computer will give me plenty till then with the right upgrades.

This it what it will probably look like after I'm done with the various upgrades and just in time for Halo/HL2:

Fortron 400w PSU
Sh*tty Compaq Mobo
Athlon xp2400+(worst case scenario xp2000)
1gb PC2100 (2)512mb sticks
Radeon 9800nonpro
120gb WD 8mb Cache SE
Audigy 2
Klipsch ProMedia THX 2.1

Not too shabby if you ask me. And I figure this rig should be able to pull close to 15k 3dmark01 and 5k in 3dmark03. But then again these figures are off the top of my head so they could be waaaaayy off.

PIII_man, thanks for clearing up the multiplier situation. I wasn't sure if I would have had to change multipliers to get the 2400 to work. And because of the bland, extremely bare compaq BIOS, I am not able to adjust multipliers.

Because your logic makes alot of sense to me, I think I'm gonna go with the 2400+. Let me ask though...would I able to return it if by small chance it was not compatible? That would make the purchase practically no risk.

I also wanted to get your opinion as to whether I should upgrade the vid card first or the cpu. I'm planning on the 9800np first so that when I upgrade to the 2400+, I can see how much my 1500+ was bottlenecking the video card and simultaneously enjoy a significant performance boost.
