Which budget ViVo graphic card makes the more robust and better performing video editing platform (stability, video capture quality, 2D, multi-monitor support are critical - I don't care about gaming): ATI (9200 - Theater) or nVidia (5200 - Philips)? I'm looking to replace my aging Matrox G200 Marvel but fundage is extremely tight.

I've always liked Rage Theater ViVo.

Yep! I've been checking out videohelp.com where the Radeon vivo gets top reviews. It's even in the top 10 where this little $50 card is rubbing shoulders with solutions costing hundreds of dollars! An nVidia solution snuck in there too but if you read the reviews you'll find that that card made it in on the strength of its gaming performance. In the application that we're interested in at video help, video capture and output, the reviewers readily admitted having lots of problems (with the nVidia solution).

I like the matrox rt.x100, but that is not cheap. I also like ati. Good luck, I like real time tv preview in editing. It helps a whole lot. Nunchal

Yeah, that's a nice card but it costs more than my car is worth!

Anyway, I bought the Radeon 9200pro vivo. For my 1.4ghz system it should be plenty powerful enough, especially since I'm not interested in 3d gaming. Haven't tried doing any video work with it yet but I'll post my impressions here when I do.
