The submission period is now over. Please cast your vote here.

We recently updated our rules for Best PC Builds. m-ITX builds no longer require WiFi. Please see below for our full list of rules.

The Best PC Builds. Our title is practically self-explanatory. Unlike the System Builder Marathon, these configurations are not chosen by Tom's Hardware's editors. They are submitted and selected by our forum members based on defined pricing tiers. Every so often, we ask the community for its help picking parts based on performance and features for the price.

It's a new year and while certain parts of the industry could be labeled as stagnant, *cough* CPU architectures *cough*, there has been drastic progress in form factors and distribution. With the introduction of "mini" sized graphics cards such as the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Mini ITX and the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 Mini, as well as the near standard requisite of space for full sized graphics cards, the mini-ITX form factor is now a viable form factor for any budget. The coming advent of true on-demand streaming from the likes of Nvidia further solidifies the mainstreaming of m-ITX. And so, for the first time ever, mini-ITX and SFX builds may compete in every single budget category. Are you up to the challenge?

The voting period will run until Wednesday, February 22nd, so be sure to vote for your best build by that date. Click on this link to vote for your favorite build in each category.

This thread is for the $2,500 budget category. Please only submit builds within the $2,500 budget category to this thread. All other builds will be disqualified.

Here are the ground rules:

  • Only one build per budget category, per user. Multiple builds from a single user or duplicate accounts will be disqualified.
    ■Do not go over budget.
■Use only Amazon OR Newegg to source parts.
■Use list prices only: coupons, rebates, bundles or any other limited-time offers will not be accepted.
■Do not include shipping or tax in your final budget.
■Do not include the Operating System, Monitor or VR Headset, Keyboard, Mouse or Gamepad.
■Do not put your forum handle in the name of your build, and avoid odd capitalizations & symbols.
Provide links to the Amazon or Newegg product pages of each component — we encourage users to use PCPartPicker's System Build for speedy construction. Do not post a link to your build, but rather please be sure to export as BBCode for a quick copy/paste to the forums.

Quick update from the Tom's Hardware Editor in Chief, Fritz Nelson:

Edit: i didn't like my previous build... i did that on a rush and end up bein' a mess IMO. so i basically made a new one! :D

Do we have to include fans too here? pc partpicker doesnt give a compatibility issue but without them we can kiss our rig bye-bye to the tundra. Some of us, including me, just chose a damn cheap case without fans to squeeze into the budget!

Fans are not necessary, but your build's thermal efficiency will be judged. You should primarily be concerned with building the best PC with the best parts for the least amount of money. Let's say there are two builds with the exact same parts, however, one has better fans. The build with the better fans will be judged as the better PC.

Got it. Thanks !

So to explain this build, I wanted to use Lian Li's amazing (but expensive) PC-08B with tempered glass for the base. I also wanted Kaby Lake, and a pair of 1080s (Titan X wasn't doable with the budget parameters). And then I went with my go-to EVGA G2 PSU, and wanted to use G Skill TridentZ RGB RAM but it went way outside of budget so I went with less expensive RAM and dropped the mechanical storage in favor of M2-2280 only.
