Best burn speed for a CD?

Solution
Due to the lossless nature of flac files it has been recommended to burn them at 24x speed. They can be burnt at any speed, but not all burners and media are equal. This will ensure a quality burn. I have been a recording engineer for 13 years and still stick to this rule.

Buy name brand CDs. Taiyo Yuden, Memorex, Sony.

CDs have burned at the max speed reliably for 10 years or more, so as long as you have a drive that is not older than that 48-52x.

I usually buy name brand like Maxell or Sony. Just don't buy no name brands as they can be hit or miss quality. CDs are so cheap now there is no reason to go cheap on them.

I have burned hundreds in the last 10 years at max speed. They all work fine in any CD players I own.

Edit: ^ We posted at the same time. 24x might be true for flac. I don't use it.

Yeah, for most files full speed is fine, but even the best burners are going to lose some data. If he is looking for a lossless copy best to slow it down and probably shell out for some Taiyo Yuden CD-R or maybe even Phillips Silver. There is a difference on the high end.
