News Best Buy lists RTX 5080s from Gigabyte at up to 40% higher than MSRP — just one model at $999

Just as I presumed.

I'm eyeing a 5080 Gigabyte Waterforce and expected to pay around $1300, which is around the same amount as buying a 4080 Super and then spending another couple hundred on a waterblock. So,... this is another $100 on top of that. I'm hoping that after the initial wave of stupidity, prices will come down a bit.

The MSRP quoted by Nvidia is always for base model cards, not custom models. You're making it sound like Best Buy is scalping, when they're not. The prices for the custom models may well be appropriate. Higher factory clocks, more efficient coolers, and other features like lighting, or custom colored fan shrouds to match your case are worth paying extra for.

Man those are the Pre-Tariff prices too...Imagine a 100% tariff on anything coming out of Taiwan...Double these prices. That hurts.
