Best chipset?

nforce, SiS and VIA. But a chipset is as good as the design of the motherboard.. ask Crashman about the Asus p4s800, IIRC.

It's nearly always nVidia, SiS, everyone else, then VIA. But SiS got the jump on nVidia with their A64 chipsets besting nVidia's earliest attempts (the nForce3 150). That jump only lasted until nVidia came out with the nForce3 250, of course.

The problem is that SiS undersells VIA, and is often limitted to stripped down boards. It doesn't seem to matter how good any SiS product is, they're still viewed as "cheap" by boardmakers.

Hey Wusy, for s754 sis has at least 2 chipsets, the 755, and the 760. We dont hear much about them because they dont have a lot of tweeks built into the boards, but they are very good chipsets, just not used on high end boards, as usual.
