Hi, i am looking for a good cleaning program, i have used the free C Cleaner, but not sure if it doing the job properly.
i have a decent desktop set up
many thanks in advance
The best cleaner is part of Windows. Start File Explorer, right-click C: and click Properties. Then click Disk Cleanup. That's all you need. If you want to speed up file access, get an SSD. You can get 240 GB ones for as little as $55 these days.
https://windirstat.net/ is handy to see what is using most hdd space, it may not clean the space for you but it will identify it.
I don't like ccleaner as it removes helpful files like dmp files that could help you fix errors. Also I don't like registry cleaners as ccleaner cleaned my registry once and removed file references I sort of needed.

I've used CCleaner for years. I think it's very easy to configure and gets rid of the junk that you don't need. Why don't you think it does the job properly?
