Hi everybody. I am building a new Desktop:

  • Mobo Gigabyte 360 HD3
  • i5-8400
  • 16 Gb 2666 RAM
  • Main use: web design / development / programming / office use (no gaming at all). A lot of multitask (several browsers with 20-30 tabs in each) + gimp + ms office + ...
The question:

- In my outgoing PC I have a 128 Sata SSD (Samsung 850 EVO) for OS + 1 Tb Seagate SSHD (Hybrid disk) for data

Shoud I keep both, adding an Intel Optane (32 Gb) or should I rather shift the 850 EVO for a Samsung 970 (M.2, NVMe M.2 or PCIe, not clear which of these three would be better for me)?

Any help on this would be great, as it is the last decision I have to take in order to build the new PC.

Thanks.

I'd say you should go for the 970. NVME M.2 is the fastest, since your motherboard supports all technologies. After that, M.2 is the fastest and then SATA. You don't have to remove the 850 EVO, you can have 2 drives installed at the same time, so you have more storage available.
