Right now, i am using a A8 7650k and it is driving me insane, its overheating to 90c When gaming according to CPUID HARDWARE MONITOR status.

also it Isn't the best CPU in gaming terms and will hold me back in the future, i'm using the GTX 750ti sc i notice drops in games constantly idk if that down to the CPU or if the GTX 750ti is just underpowered for 1080p gaming.

the CPU will also bottlesneck stronger GPU

I also know the F2A68HM-HD2 is a low budget board and has a limited selection of compatible CPUs

What are my options here, any help appreciated.

Solution

Yes, the GTX 750 Ti is under powered for good 1080p gaming. Get the Athlon X4 880K, update your BIOS to the F2c (if needed), and buy a GTX 960/R9-380 if your PSU allows. That will give you the best gaming capability w/o major CPU bottleneck with your current platform.

I can't find the 880k anywhere, I don't think you can purchase it yet.

860k ok so that my best option? Also my psu is 500w

With that set up what would the performance be in terms of ultra 1080p gaming?

Yeah, it looks like 860k will have to do. Ultra 1080p will require no less than a r9 380x.

Max settings in class A games will be hit an miss with that FM2+ platform. More like medium if online gaming. Maybe a bit better if single player. It will depend on the game. Less demanding games may easily let you play at max settings.
500W is fine unless the PSU is junk.

Thank mate also does the motherboard inpacked gaming performance a lot?

None at all in your case.
