Best Configuration for Asymmetrical RAM

Hi all, I've seen questions about asymmetrical RAM before, but I'm curious if those answers still apply when the two sticks are very similar. I have two DDR 4 RAM sticks, one Crucial 16 GB "CT16G4DFD824A" and one Crucial 8 GB "CT8G4DFD824A". My motherboard "Asrock Z370M Pro4" has 4 RAM slots. Would it be better for me to install the two sticks in the 1 and 2 position, like two independent single channel sticks, or in the 1 and 3 position, like a pair of dual channel sticks?
