Best connection port for 1440p monitor?

Hey, I am thinking of buying a new monitor. Either 2560x1080 or 2560x1440.
But my question is that I have heard that not all outputs support higher thatn 1080p and I am wondering which output is best, HDMI, DVI, or DisplayPort?

The 1440p monitor also says in the specifications that it has 2x DVI ports. What significance does that bear?

Display port is the best, HDMI and DVI will not be enough in most cases to transfer ALL the frames to such resolutions.

for resolutions above 1920x1200 you must use either Dual-Link DVI-D (not the same as 2x DVI) or DisplayPort
