Hi,
My i7-4970K 4.0 GHz CPU is running too hot for my taste. It sometimes throttles below the stock frequency of 4 GHz while I'm encoding a video. I would like to get a better cooler for it. Price is not really a factor, I'm simply looking for the best quality non-water cooler that fits on my PC. My RAM is HyperX Beast with heat sinks so it's 46.41 mm tall. I was looking at the Noctua NH-D15, but that won't fit unless I remove one of the fans. Why buy 2 fans if I only get to use one?
Cooling power is the top priority, but silent operation is also a definite plus. So my question is, what's the best air based cooling solution that is small enough to fit in my PC? I've also read it's possible to remove the heat sinks on the RAM, would that be feasible in my case?
CPU: Intel i7-4790K 4.0 GHz
MB: Asus Z97 Deluxe
RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast
Case: Cooler Master HAF X
