Hi Tomshardware, I'm making this post today because I need to get an aftermarket Graphics card cooler for my Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X has I'm running two with my 4k display and while gaming my top card runs at super hot temps and sounds like a car starting up. I'm looking for the best aftermarket cooler what isn't too expensive but then not too cheap. (I want it to be good) and I can pretty much fit any cooler in my case the Phantom 630 maximum case.

Thank you so much for your help and have a good rest of your day, George.

Solution
Something with 2 x 120mm or 2 x 140mm

Swiftech H240-X or 220-X but I dunno about compatibility

The Kraken X60 is the obvious "compatible" choice ... dunno about the improved X61 compatibility wise.

These are listed as compatible

NZXT: Kraken X60, Kraken X40 - Corsair: H110, H90, H55, H50 - Antec: KUHLER H2O 920 V4, KUHLER H2O 620V4, KUHLER H2O 920, KUHLER H2O 620 - Thermaltake: Water 3.0 Extreme, Water 3.0 Pro, Water 3.0 Performer, Water 2.0 Extreme, Water 2.0 Pro, Water 2.0 Performer - Zalman: LQ-320, LQ-315, LQ-310

I'm only really looking for a cooler for the top R9 290 as watercooling is way above my budget, Also the stock R9 290 fan is really load and while playing Grand Theft Auto V on 4k for around an hour it runs at 86C.

I'm not really looking into watercooling my PC because I simply just can't afford it, do you know any king of watercooling systems like the Corsair h100i like a all in one watercooler?

My friend highly recommends Be Quiet! coolers... apparently they do a really good job of cooling (if you don't use the stock thermal paste) and are dead silent, but have really frustrating installation

Personally I use NZXT Kraken X60 (would also be happy with Corsair H coolers) because of the clean look and giant tower coolers make it really frustrating to install new CPUs, tinker around with RAM, fans/headers, etc.

Do Be Quite sell aftermarket Graphics card coolers?

The H55 is a bit weak for the heat output of a R9 290.... The H55 120mm @ 1700 rpm is capable of about 80 watts of cooling. Your 290 pumps out. With a 265 watt card + 10% for overclocking ... You'd want at least 60% of that to be provided by the cooler or 175 watts or so .... you need a 2 x 120mm cooler for the 290.

So what cooler would you recemend ?
