I'm not one to want to water cool my cpu just yet, so I'm curious as to what the best cooler for my cpu would be if I use my rig for gaming, mining, and OC it.
Specs:
-CPU: AMD FX-6300
-GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 SC
-PSU: EVGA SuperNova 850w G3
-Case: NZXT Phantom 410
-RAM: 16Gb DDR3 HyperX Fury

Most of what i heard about that cooler are good things. Its more expensive than the 212 Evo but the extra cost gives you superior performance as well as lower noise. As to the motherboard you have download CPUZ it will tell you what motherboard you have.
The Hyper 212 evo from Cooler Master is the best cooler for the price around 25$. Average overclock range from 4.1GHz to 4.2Ghz with good temperatures. Also I mine cryptocurency too and overclocking the cpu will not do any good for your mining in fact because of the extra power usage you will lose money. But for games you should see a nice improvement in performance.

Disregarding price, how would you say it compares to the Noctua NH-D15 SSO2?

On a little side note i dont know much about your motherboard but people seem to be able to push 4.4ghz on your motherboard although it seems anything above 4.5ghz and it starts getting unstable. still a stable 4.5ghz will net you a very nice boost in performance.

As a side question which coin are you mining if you dont mind me asking i personaly mine ZCash.

Most likely just Ethereum (if I could ever manage to get it setup) 😛

My pc came with it so... :/

Well mining won't use 5% of you're CPU, its entirely GPU bound.

If you 'must' try & overclock the CPU on that board then you want a 120/140mm downblower not a tower cooler.

The issue is they cost roughly twice as much.

You've got a bad imbalance here though $550-600 worth of GPU & PSU & $120 worth of CPU & motherboard.

It's a configuration that makes very little sense to me personally.

Yeah, I just bought the GPU and PSU and I'm planning on upgrading the rest soon. The MoBo and cooler at least
