Best cpu for Asrock AM2 motherboard

What is the best cpu i can put in this motherboard ?

Is there any possibility that an am2+ or am3 cpu would work?

Athlon X2 6400 is the best cpu that board supports, AM2+ and AM3 cpus will not work.

I have read that there was a special bios which allowed the newer cpus to work

I. AMD Athlon™ X2 Dual Core Processor BE-2XXX.
II. AMD Sempron™ Processor LE-1XXX.

Those are the last two cpus that received support. The newer bios versions (2.6) only affected a specific sound car and the usb code. You can try other cpus that fit the socket and they might work, but these are the last two that are guaranteed to work by ASRock.
