i7 has hyper threading, which in most testing only improves a few frames here and there, and won't really help with gaming.
i7s help mostly in video editing, and since you game only I would say get the i5 4670K.
I have a 7950 HD GPU and am running games on eyefinty hoping the highest res as I can. I plan on getting a new GPU when AMD release a new series.
For gaming only the AMD FX-8350 and FX-8320 offer good bang for buck, and perform well at high resolutions. If you wish to spend more cash on an i5 or i7 Haswell it would also be worth it.
Here is the low down: AMD FX-8350 and FX-8320 are good value, but the latest i7 will give more frames at a higher price point.
So would I get more frames out of and OC i7 or and OC top of the range AMD CPU?
From what I seen, the i7 would do a better job for the best FPS even without overclock. You'll need to look at some benchmarks to confirm, but I'm almost certain I'm correct.
The 4770K/4670K win easily if both are clocked at 4.6. You'd need vishera to be clocked over 5ghz to match the 4670K and even higher to match the 4770K
Ya? I saw AMD are releasing a 5Ghz CPU but I don't know when it's out and could imagine it would be fairly expensive on release. Any other suggestion before I spend a nice bit of money?

It is believed that the FX-9590 will cost over $900 when it's released. Meanwhile the FX-9370 will cost just under $600. But it could be incorrect information.
I could see it being the that price I will probably end up getting the i7 bundle I have being looking at so. Any other upgrades that would be good for a fps increase?

Getting the Haswell i7 is the best choice I feel for maximum performance. You could wait for Ivy Bridge-E, but I imagine that the extra cost isn't worth it for gaming.
