i need a new processor for my gtx 1070 since my amd fx 8350 seems to bottleneck it. what do u guys recommend? im running 16gb of ram on an msi 970 motherboard...

Solution

The 8350 was decent back in the day, but now intel seems to have the upper hand on most desktop users. Sad, but true. So, reuse your CPU cooler and overclock the 4690k. That will alleviate any issues.

thanks. ill probably go with this. yeah my 8350 is ocd to 4.6ghz

yes ive tested the hardest to run games such as arma 3 and ark survival evolved and i get like 8 - 15 frames less than other people with gtx 1070s

yeah i got my 8350 back when it was one of the top cpus but now its out of date 🙁 thanks for all the quick answers guys...

I have almost the same system specs, 8350, 1070 16gbs of ram but I'm using a asrock extreme 4 motherboard and a 256 SSD. I have tested it in games and find that I get 10-20% less frames in game than my brother that has a I5 with 8 gbs of ram in the same games. I bought my 8350 about 3 years ago when I was using a 760 and had no issues, but since upgrading to a 1070 I find that I'm in no way getting the performance that I should be getting. I had no idea that my 8350 would cripple this graphics card. I would have bought a I7 if I had known that it was going to cause me problems if I ever wanted to move to a more powerful graphics card. I guess it's time to move to team Intel from team AMD. I'm a bit depressed that I have to finally give up my 8350 because it won't let my new graphics card breath.

Yeah it is quite shocking and disappointing that the 8350 has fallen behind and i5 is dominating. However, I'm still not giving up hope on AMD cpus. I'm waiting for Jan/Feb to see what new CPUs Intel and AMD offer. I am absolutely willing to switch from intel to amd if performance is there, but I wouldn't bet that AMD can smash a grandslam when Intel has been so consistent.
