My motherboard is a: GA-EP43T-S3L

I was wondering if anyone had some dirt about this motherboard and wanted to spare it to a new computer builder, i currently have a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 @2.66Ghz.

i was wondering what the best supported (even if it isn't Technically supported in the manual) CPU for this motherboard that i can find with retaliative ease, i have looked through the manual for the mobo but the strongest CPU's are not much of a gain on my current CPU and was wondering if anyone new of any CPU's that aren't supported in the manual but does work

Many Thanks!

According to this link, your motherboard can use most of the XEON 771 previously adapted to 775. Currently the majority of those sold on the internet are adapted and do not require physical modification of the motherboard.

I recommend you read the link carefully if you decide to go this way. Especially with regard to microcodes.

The best options are the E5450 and the X5460.
The X5460 is somewhat more powerful but consumes more than its current cpu so it may have heating problems.

Remember that the Xeon do not have integrated graphics with which it is necessary to have a discrete graphic.

I do not recommend that you spend on this platform, unless you get a very cheap one...

Can you tell us what memory, PSU and cpu cooler you have?

Do you use OverClock?

Solution

i have an extremely overpowered cooler for the CPU i currently have so no problem there, as for ram i have 4x4gb sticks that where on the motherboard manual support list.
some type of Samsung memory DDR3 if i remember correctly

i have tried overclocking but it is not my forte and i could never to get to be stable, if you have a way to help me I would appreciate it
500W PSU, 1050TI

Assuming you have the version 1.3 of that Gigabyte motherboard, the absolute best CPU supported on that motherboard is the Core 2 Quad Extreme QX9770: 20% faster FSB, 2x the L2 cache, & 20% faster per-core speeds. Barring that, the Core 2 Quad Q9650 would be a good alternative (same FSB, but 2x the L2 cache & 12-13% faster per core).

I wouldn't bother trying to find an LGA 771-modded Xeon, especially since they won't be as good as the QX9770. But I don't know how available a Core 2 Quad or Core 2 Extreme is going to be nowadays.

The problem is that the price of the Core 2 Quad Extreme QX9770 is absolutely insane ($ 200) so I do not recommend it in any case.

Xeon E5450 or X5460 cost about 20$ to 25$ and it's a price that I think you can risk. Q9650 costs about 45$ and it is equal than E5450.

So the only big difference between an LGA 771 and 775 is the PCB slots? other than that they would most likely work? generally speaking of course.

i am willing to buy one of the Xeon X5450's

i had bought my Q9400 from eBay for 10 bucks or so, and has worked ever since
