Best CPU for my server build?

I want to build a server with Hyper-V. I plan on installing Windows Server 2012 Datacenter with RAIDUS, File Server, and DNS roles. I also want to install Plex on either my Windows VM or a Ubuntu/Cent VM. I would like to setup a proxy server possibly using Squid. And lastly, I want to setup a PFsense firewall VM.
I want my Plex server to be able to transcode with ease.

I am building a server from ground up.

I had hoped I could make a good enough machine with an Intel i7 4770k with 16gb RAM.
Would this be a powerful enough CPU for this build?
Is it absolutely necessary to go with a Xeon chip? I can put together a whole server with the 4770k for the same price as a lower end Xeon E5 alone.

Any help is appreciated.

not really, both perform quite the same. Except the 4770k can be overclocked much better then an Xeon, that's the main advantage, but you may not want to OC your CPU.

1275 V3 is the only XEON that E3 that has graphics on board(In XEON processors, the units with 5 have graphics onboard and 0 don't)

I think the I7 4770 would be best or 4771 I don't think you'll overclock a server PC so no need for the K version.

Will VT-d matter at all? I'm kind of leaning toward the Xeon 1275V3 now... It appears to be almost equal to the 4770K other than the i7 can be OCd and the Xeon has VT-d.
