Hi I am looking for the best possible cpu available with my current setup

PSU Corsair CS450M
Graphics: GTX 970
MotherBoard: Asus A88x Pro

Solution
Your motherboard is socket FM2+, and will take any socket FM2+ CPU - for instance, Athlon 860K or A10-7800. FM2+ has only very low-end CPUs, and any of them will bottleneck a GTX 970. Is it possible for you to sell/return the motherboard and get an Intel socket 1150 or 1151 motherboard instead? If not, I would recommend an Athlon 860K if you're overclocking, or an Athlon 845 if not, but bear in mind that there is no upgrade path for your board and you'll be CPU-limited from day one.

Ok thank you currently i have an AMD a10 5800k, is it even worth the upgrade or should i leave it how it is until i get a new mobo?

Your A10-5800k has a passmark rating of 4639, and a single core rating of 1462.
The best processor available today for your FM2+ motherboard would be a X4-860K rating is 5592 and a single core rating of 1596.
The announced A10-880K is likely to be 5% faster. Don't know the price.

If you wanted to buy a new motherboard and install a processor like a FX-8350, you would get a passmark of 8949, but the single thread rating would be no better at 1504.
Most games can use no more than 2-3 threads so the extra threads of a FX-6 or FX-8 will not help.
Most games are dependent on the performance of the single master thread.

If you are going to make a significant jump you need to consider Intel of some sort.
The i3-6100 is a very good $125 mid range processor. Passmark is 5500, with a single thread rating of 2102.
It is very good for sims, strategy and mmo games.

If you play multiplayer games, then a I5 is probably better.
