Best CPU for number crunching?

Hi guys! I am just wondering, if I want a killer processor for using IBM SPSS and other related number crunching software, what are the best CPUs on the market for that? Should I look at Intel Xeons, or a few i7s on a multi socket motherboard, or AMD Opterons? Any help is appreciated. Thanks so much!

Go for a xeon, multiple i7 will be expensive or get an opetron.
If you want enormous power get a supermicro board. They have multiple processor boards (upto 4 processors) and hook up multiple xeons.
