Hi everyone,
I have an optiplex gx520 desktop form factor currently fitted with a Pentium 4 521 HT. That will soon be replaced with a Pentium D. But, I was wondering if it could take something like a Core 2 Duo or Core 2 duo? Thanks.

Solution
While you have a 945G Express chipset which can support Core 2 Duo's, Dell limits it to Pentium 4's

It looks like this is really the most you can support
Intel
® Pentium® 4 800MHz FSB socket T with HT, XD, EM64T, and 2MB L2 cache and EIST* (6xx series)
Intel
® Pentium® 4 800MHz FSB socket T with HT, XD, EM64T, and 1MB L2 cache (5xx series)
Intel
® Celeron® D 533 MHz FSB Socket T with XD and EM64T (3xx series)
