best cpu for P5q mobo

i'm running a P5Q mobo with intel core 2duo cpu E8500 @ 3.16GHz. witha geforce gtx 260. and i want to up grade the cpu and i want to get a new graphics card but don't know which to get the only game i play is World of Warcraft

Could go to most any 775 CPU, the Q9650 is the top end- the supported list can be found here:

Your only option is what I have right now : a Xeon with a socket 771 to socket 775 mod. I use a X5470 (10*333mhz stock), easily overclockable to 4ghz+. Pay attention to the stepping of the CPU (choose stepping E0).
Those Xeon chips also have 12MB cache, and are rather cheap on ebay (compared to C2Q prices).
